Find comfort and balance when it seems unlikely, explore creative ways to leave the floor and return to it, offering more variety for flows and performance. Learn the mechanics and the language of mounts and dismounts that can create exciting transitions between sequences. Pre-requisites: proficient as base or flyer in shoulderstand, cartwheel, some experience with reverse star, handstand.

We will start with a warm up partner yoga and strengths building sequence. Following the principles and elements of AcroYoga and we will develop and practice specific skills layering down appropriate progressions. The workshop will end with a guided Thai Massage or “leg love” aimed at cooling down connect and relax.

Presenter Bio:

Debora O’Callaghan has completed numerous beginners and advanced acroyoga trainings in New Zealand, USA, New Caledonia, Singapore and Bali, with both Yogaslackers Jason and Chelsey and other high level international Acroyoga teachers. She is a Qualified AcroYoga Teacher and has been teaching several acroyoga courses, intermediate and beginners workshops at festivals around the country and in Nelson/ Golden Bay area. Debora has been facilitating weekly jams and classes for several years in Takaka. She is a qualified yoga teacher and has been teaching and practicing yoga for 10 years, she currently runs 3 weekly vinyasa yoga classes in Golden Bay.

Jola Siezen, also known as one half of the TwistyTwinz, has been turning herself upside down and inside out for as long as she can remember. She completed a diploma in Theatre and performing arts (Selwyn College- Auckland) and a 2 year diploma in Circus Arts (Circo Arts – Christchurch). Over the past 12 years Jola has traveled extensively, performing, training and teaching in NZ, Australia, Europe and Asia. She primarily works together with her twin sister but also loves collaborating with other artists and performers. Jola is a founding member of the Loons Circus Theatre Company and a Guinness world record holder (Three people in a small box) . Currently Jola is based in Nelson, NZ, where she lives, teaches and performs when not on tour around the globe! ‘Together we can go to where one man cannot travel alone.’
