A New Zealander with Cornish, Irish and Scottish roots, Kāren takes her audience on a sublime musical journey with evocative melodies that draw from a fusion of world music and rootsy grooves. Kāren loops her voice, guitar and mandolin, creating heart charged soundscapes blending her many influences in an entertaining and original fashion.
Kāren Hunter’s journey into songwriting traverses over 35 years and ten albums. She has visited many musical continents and genres throughout this adventure. Best known as a live performer and as a singer / songwriter on guitar and voice, Kāren has also undertaken many musical studies both formally and informally and now offers music facilitation and teaching to others as part of her energy exchange with the community.
Kāren often accompanies other artists on guitar, mandolin and vocals and plays regularly with Matiu Te Huki, one of New Zealand’s most exciting festival artists. Kāren has accompanied Matiu Te Huki on international tours to Europe and Australia.
Kāren holds a diploma in Facilitation from Zenergy Global. As a Zenergy facilitator Kāren has offered facilitation assistance to the transformational festivals Luminate, Prana and Evolve.
