Introduction to the polyrhythms of West Africa. The aim of the workshop is to enable the participants to experience what it feels like, when a number or polyrhythms are assembled together to form one, whole rhythm. The West African tradition is the foundation of numerous musical styles but more than anything, it is the most refined & powerful form of dance music.
Presenter Bio:
I have been playing West African Drums for 20 years & have been very fortunate to have studied with a great number of the top master drummers from West Africa. I have played & performed with numerous troupes in Europe, Australia & NZ & have been teaching workshops & regular classes since 2008 including the past 4 Luminate festivals (since 2013).
