Bio
RHYTHMONYX 7 piece dub, hiphop, drum and bassy kinda crew hailing from the deep south of NZ, the inspirational Invercargill.
Big, funky bottom-line grooves from the lithe and muscular rhythm section of Richard Hogan and Rhys White. Urgent, edgy Aotearoa raps and vocal stylings from Invercargill's answer to Che Fu, Jono Leask. Insistent, chiming guitar chops from John Pfeifer. Fluid brass harmonies and stabbing punctuation from Rumi Koda and Nick Garraway. Dashes of electronica from soundman-MCP operator Tom Smythe.
Combined, their sound is a fresh, vibrant and obesely phat mash of Kiwi grooves, Pasifika beats, reggae chops, old-school British ska, hip-hop and electronica: impossible to define, wonderful to behold.
RHYTHMONYX have firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the New Zealand Music scene. Experience the ultra live energy for yourself!
What makes you interested to perform at Luminate?
" Performing at Luminate 2011 & 2012 have been a highlight of the year for the crew. This year we would like to bring some of the Rhythmonyx crew's children and family from the deep south." - Rhythmonyx
