Nelson-based group ‘Weave’ formed in early 2011 and had their debut gig at the Nelson Festival of opportunities in March. They then won a competition to support the iconic kiwi musician Greg Johnson on the Nelson leg of his ‘Small Towns and Ball Gowns’ tour in June. Weave’s performance was well received at the gig.
"I grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel," says Greg "so when I heard these Nelson guys I was taken right away. Tight tunes, great voices. It's Folk folks."
Craig Lee joined the group shortly after this, weaving his vibrant, percussive guitar playing style, rich vocals and sublime song writing into the tapestry. This has opened the way for both four-part harmonies and intricate instrumental play.
The group consists of sisters June Fallen (Vocals) and Santosha Phillips (Vocals and percussion), and songwriters Leo Barrer and Craig Lee (Vocals and guitar).
