Samba de Sol is a dynamic and vibrant percussion and dance band bringing fusion

rhythms from Brazil and India to festivals, celebrations and dance-floors all over the South Island. Being the first samba group in New Zealand to combine Samba and Bhangra rhythms, Samba de Sol bring a unique and infectious ‘feel great’ buzz to every performance of their high energy music and dance.

Samba de Sol was launched in 2010 by a group of Nelson-based musicians and dancers passionate about bringing world music and dance to the community. The band focuses on creating performances that have a high level of skill and entertainment value. In its first year alone, Samba de Sol performed at dozens of festivals and gigs.

Samba de Sol directors, musicians and dancers will be hosting samba percussion and dance workshops at luminate, alongside performances.
